Terms of use
1. What this is
UDPcheck is a non-commercial research service that measures whether UDP traffic passes between your network and our servers. By using the site, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
2. How to treat the results
- A result applies to the servers checked and to the moment of measurement. The browser check is short (a few small packets and replies of 600 and 1200 bytes); it is weaker than a node measurement and does not replace it.
- The cause of packet loss may lie with the provider, with a transit network or on your side (router, antivirus, VPN client). The service does not claim that a particular provider is at fault, it shows what is visible from the servers checked.
- The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of availability or accuracy; results are not a legal opinion or evidence in a dispute. The support request text is a template, check it before sending.
3. What is allowed and what is not
You may use the service to check your own connections and connections you have the right to check, and for research in reasonable volumes. You may not:
- create mass automated requests, overload the servers or bypass rate limits;
- fake results, distort statistics or try to obtain other people's data;
- use the service for attacks, for scanning other people's networks or for checking other people's addresses without their knowledge;
- disrupt the operation of the project's servers and of volunteers' servers.
We may restrict access for violators (including by network or address) without warning.
4. The service is not a tool for bypassing blocking
UDPcheck only measures and reports results. It is not a VPN, not a proxy and is not intended for bypassing restrictions; it does not advertise or recommend such tools.
5. Nodes and volunteers' servers
If you install a node or a volunteer server, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk. The code is open (AGPL-3.0) and can be read before installation; you can remove a node at any time (the removal command is on the home page). You are responsible for your network and for complying with the rules of your hosting provider and ISP; you configure open ports and the firewall yourself.
6. Names, logos, rights
Names and logos of providers belong to their owners and are shown only as an identifying mark of their network. If you consider a name or a conclusion wrong or infringing your rights, write to draldrean@protonmail.com: we will correct or remove it. The code is distributed under AGPL-3.0-or-later; the name “UDPcheck” and the domain dagart.xyz refer to this instance of the service.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses from using the service, from its unavailability or from decisions made on the basis of its results.
8. Changes and contact
We may change the terms; a new revision is published here with a date, earlier ones are kept in the repository history. Questions: draldrean@protonmail.com.
